skelly's and fridas....

well, it's almost that time of the year... HALLOWEEN and DIA DE LOS MUERTOS...
two of my most favorite celebrations.

i've been churning out day of the dead couples like it was nobody's business and i still have a half dozen or so on the drying rack.

these happy couples are available in my ETSY shoppe ( for the moment):

but they may be getting a new home at the RAGIN' DAISY tomorrow, depending on how many more i get finished today! :)

beautiful frida is going to the quarter as well.

and finally, this is a custom wedding piece i did for a lovely gal getting married in florida on halloween.

although i have had to start on some christmas goodies, my heart is still fully rooted in the witching hour and the  bizarre and i am also working on some conjoined twins pieces that i expect to have ready for the november 6th freret street market.

not much else is going on.... so let me bounce.

i have more skelly's to paint....

it was complete pandemonium...

saturday night was the PANDEMONIUM SHADOW SHOW, which i was a part of at the big top gallery here in beautiful nola.

my good friend, niki fisk is the featured artist there this year and she put on the show

, generously inviting me to be a part of it.

i had a little table of my dollies...

niki sold her amazing, rare adornments...

cassie mckane joined us with her beautiful plant arrangements...

and there were several other vendors, who unfortunately, i did not get very good pictures of...

ratty scurvics entertained us and many of my friends dropped by to shop and say hello and have a drank with us...

it was a fun evening and we were all pleased with the turn out!

xtra special thanks to mallory over at miss malaprop for the enormous shout out earlier this week!
it was weird seeing my dolls on someone else's blog. but in a good way!

i topped the weekend off with a tromp through the quarter yesterday

and a round of SUPERNATURAL on the dvd player.
all in all, a pretty nice october weekend.

today i have to take and post some pics of the day of the dead pieces i finished on friday.
i have a few folks interested in them for wedding gifts.
and i need to make some more, as i am pretty much sold out and i have to deliver to the ragin daisy on friday.

after that... it's christmas time! yep, you heard me right ... time to start glittering snowmen and seeing what other holiday enchantments my deviant little brain can come up with.

truth is, i'm not much of a christmastime person... i much prefer halloween, but like the great pumpkin king himself once said, " i've got a few ideas that'll really make 'em scream!"

so, that's that for this lovely monday morning...

i hope everyone has a fantastic week and i'll see you all very soon!

shadows and soul searching

good morning everyone!

thank you all for being so patient with me while my wrist has been healing.
i have been working a lot on my dolls, but what computer work i've doing has been looking more than writing...

fall has come to new orleans and i can't remember any days this beautiful in a long, long time. last year we literally went from summer to winter and it stayed winter until april. which is not like us. and we did not like it. but, last weekend, fall arrived, the sky is the bluest of blues, there is a crisp breeze, but it's still warm enough to run around in short sleeves. perfect. absolutely perfect.

i took a walk in my neighborhood on sunday and took these pictures of some of my favorite houses

of course, i am stuck in side more than i would like, working, working, working. but when i take walks, i do enjoy them more than i have in a long time...

last weekend i did the freret street market here in town:

it was a gorgeous day but the market was disappointing. i am more than thankful for my friends who showed up and bought some pieces from me, because i only sold one item to someone i didn't know! ha! the dolls got A LOT of interest, a lot of handling, A LOT of oohing and ahhing and " these are the cutest things i've ever seen" . but...
oh well...

soooo... that was a bit of a let down, but,you gotta start somewhere and that might as well have been it. i have applied to do another show there in november, because i feel that i need to make my presence known. but, my fire has died down a bit, and i am having to have long talks with myself to keep up the enthusiasm and positivity that i need in my life.

but, that's all i'm going to say about that...

so, i have some work to do and i guess i better get to it.

on the bright side... it's almost halloween!!!

until then...
